Official: Nokia N9 will not be sold in France

First Impressions
Compared to all other smartphones available today, and even those of Nokia, the N9 is like a breath of fresh air. It is not bright, it is not black and there is not an aluminum strip in sight. Nokia has packaged the components in a polycarbonate body unibody (116 x 61 x 12 mm 135 g), which makes it slightly rubbery to the touch and which apparently created less interference with the air inside the phone.
There are no navigation buttons, MeeGo works through different gestures. There are nevertheless essential physical buttons for volume and power on the right spine, and the jack on top.
With the Nokia N9 finally built a decent smartphone with components. The Nokia N9 runs on a 1GHz Cortex-A8 OMAP 3630 with 1 GB of RAM and a graphics processor PowerVR SGX530. It will be available with two storage capacities: 16 GB and 64 The N9 is also equipped with an 8 megapixel camera with flash and Carl Zeiss optics. The picture quality should be equivalent to the Nokia N8.

To view the photos you take, Nokia has integrated its N9 3.9 inches AMOLED screen format 16 / 9 and resolution of 854 x 480 pixels, Gorilla Glass with treatment to prevent scratching. The result is quite impressive, blacks and the colors were very well made on the prototype we had the chance to see.
In addition to the NFC chip that is inside the N9, there are the traditional wireless connections: 3G, Wi-Fi (a / b / g / n), Bluetooth and GPS. The NFC chip would not support future projects contactless payment according to CNET Australia, it would simply be able to communicate with other devices equipped with NFC to initiate such a multiplayer game or pair of Bluetooth products.MeeGo
This operating system is surprisingly minimal and strongly resembles IOS and Android. When you unlock the smartphone, you see first the application menu, a long list containing all the installed apps. If you drag your finger to the left you will see the list of notifications unified, revealing your recent calls, messages, emails, and updates to Facebook and Twitter. If you slide your finger to the right from the application list, you will have a page displaying the windows of all running applications. And that's all. There are no widgets, no option to add more screens, no sizes for shortcuts and no customizable wallpapers.

After spending so much time to customize Android smartphone, this approach seems restrictive at first, but we're very quickly. All major applications are at the top of the list, making them easily accessible. Nokia has integrated Facebook and Twitter MeeGo inside, so you do not need to use a separate application for access to their duties. MeeGo users can go to the Ovi Store - soon renamed Nokia Store - to fill with apps, and from what we heard, it will be possible for applications to deliver live information on the screen notifications.

If you are owner of an iPhone and you have never downloaded applications outside of basic (the type of applications such as Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, Angry Birds ...) you are the target of MeeGo. Like Windows Phone Microsoft user experience MeeGo is deliberately simple and, while owners of Androphone-hackers complain of these limitations, this interface could really be suitable for consumers seeking their first smartphone.Outlook
Nokia talks about the products as MeeGo terminal "disruptive." The Nokia N9 is an interesting newcomer in the landscape of increasingly saturated smartphone offering a real alternative for those who want a fast terminal, with a simple user experience of social networks and embellished with a good camera.
Scheduled for the third quarter, Nokia N9 will be offered at a price of bare $ 660 for the 16GB version and $ 749 for 64 GB as Colin Giles, executive vice president of sales for the Finnish firm
